Recycled water in the polishing and grinding process
As part of standard leveling foot production, there is a process where the metal part is ground and polished using vibratory finishing. This process ensures a good quality surface and makes sure the surface will not be contaminated by the environment where the product is being used.
The technology uses water to clean the parts and keep the temperature low during grinding. This adds up to an estimated water consumption of approximately six gallons per hour. NGI has six machines that are running approximately 18 hours each day. This adds up to a yearly water consumption of around 178,000 gallons.
NGI has a recycling system, where the water is running through a filter and is then recycled into the machines. Therefore, water consumption is lowered to approximately half a gallon per machine This means the new yearly water consumption is estimated to be about 14,265 gallons using this recycling system.
