Advantages of Utilizing Hygienically Enhanced Castors in the Food Processing Industry

NGI's hygienically optimized castors stand out as the only patented casters globally, designed with adherence to EHEDG, 3-A, and USDA principles, ensuring compliance with high cleanliness standards and easy accessibility from all perspectives for cleaning.

Our castors are made of stainless steel, combined with a one-sided fork housing that provides easy access for cleaning and smooth and drainable surfaces. This means that you get a more hygienic solution and save water and cleaning detergents. All surfaces are smooth and drainable as they are either round or have a 3-degree angle, thus, dirt and bacteria will not accumulate.

One of the weak points with current castor solutions is the brake. That’s why, we have integrated the brake into the fork housing and locking rotation and pivoting occur inside the castor. Additionally, the castor's design facilitates easy installation.

Furthermore, our castors are engineered to withstand the rigorous cleaning processes typical in food processing plants. High-pressure washing and exposure to harsh cleaning agents can quickly deteriorate standard castors, resulting in frequent replacements and potential downtime. However, our hygienically enhanced castors are designed to endure these conditions, guaranteeing longevity and consistent performance.

Therefore, using hygienically enhanced castors in food processing offers numerous advantages. From minimizing the risk of contamination between production zones to withstanding rigorous cleaning processes, these castors contribute to maintaining high hygiene standards and improving operational efficiency.

With one of our customers, we have tested our new castors against current castors and the advantages are easy to see. We ran tests showing how much filth castors pick up from the production floor during use. The results were evident! – the hygienic design of the new castor ensures that dirt does not accumulate and minimizes the risks of cross-contamination between production zones.

Besides testing the castors with customers, FORCE Technology - Danish Research and Technology Organisation of Hygienic Design - has also tested our new castors against standard castors. The test illustrates the significant savings in resources and enhanced food safety.
